Stenöorn Natural Preserve

Stenöorn's nature reserve is one of the county's best places for birds. The area is located on the headland that is formed where Söderalaåsen (Ljusnanåsen) meets the sea. The ridge here consists of a flat and hard swollen sand ridge with shallow beaches.

The area is also interesting from a botanical point of view. Due to the importance of the area as a breeding ground for birds, it is forbidden to enter areas other than the marked path during the time of April 1 to August 31.

The nature on the headland is open, with dry meadows and occasionally flooded beach meadows. Here you can find less common sea beach species such as snake tongue, salt heritage, red heirloom, beach violet, beach glim, coastal run.

The low-growing vegetation and the large shallow water areas have made the cape one of the county's best resting places for waders. Virtually all waders that occur regularly in Sweden have been observed here.
